Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a condition that develops in some people who have seen or lived through a shocking, scary, or dangerous event. PTSD starts at different times for different people. Signs of PTSD may include flashbacks, bad dreams, and depression. These signs may begin soon after a frightening event and then continue. Other people develop signs months or years later. PTSD can happen to anyone, even children.
Treatment may include talk therapy, medicines, or both. If the person you are caring for has PTSD, learn more here about its causes and treatment.
